Tesla's entry-level Model 3 just became more affordable
The price of the Tesla Model 3 in Australia has had a significant price reduction as well as receiving a number of upgrades to the interior and exterior. This is great news for anyone who has been sitting back and watching this space before making the big decision to dive in and get a Tesla Model 3.
The entry level Standard Range Plus model is now priced from $66,900 plus on-road costs. This equates to a $7000 price reduction. The quoted range has also increased from 460km to 490km, an extra 6.5% range.
The mid-spec Long Range variant has dropped to $83,425 plus on-road costs, equating to a savings of $6000. It too has received a range boost going from 620km to 657km, an extra 6% of range
The top-of-the-range Performance variant now costs $92,425 plus on-road costs. This equates to a savings of $5000 and comes with an extended range of 628km (previously 560km), a 12% increase in range.
Standard Equipment Level also get's better
The Model 3 now receives the same heat pump HVAC system that is being used on the new Model Y. This system improves efficiency even further and is probably the main cause for the increase in range with these new models.
Some of the other changes include the removal of the chrome and glossy black trim on the exterior and interior. Tesla have decided to replace this with a satin black trim on the exterior and a matte black trim on the inside. We feel this is a great styling decision by Tesla as we are all too aware of the finger print issues with the glossy black interior trim.
The centre console has received an update with a new wireless charging pad that can accommodate two phones at once, an updated storage compartment with a sliding lid (previously a flip lid) and two more USB-C ports for high-powered device charging. These are joined by an additional USB-A port in the glove compartment. Again we feel these are some great choices by Tesla and will definitely help to future proof the car for many years to come.
The sun visors also received an update with a new magnetic closure feature. This allows them to snap back into place with little effort. It's a nice little feature that many luxury cars have.
All variants have received new wheels including 18-inch Aero wheels for the Standard Range Plus, 19-inch Sport Wheels for the Long Range variant and new 20-inch Uberturbine wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres for the Performance variant.
